Viajes Gran CaribeA travel agency for you
Famous for its hotel resorts headed by the National Hotel, the Tropicana cabarets in Havana and Varadero, and such restaurants as La Bodeguita del Medio and El Floridita, Gran Caribe has just opened a travel agency of its own as a way to further improve its varied tourist offer.
Among the goals behind the foundation of Gran Caribe Travels (Viajes Gran Caribe) the organization of tourists trips to Cuba and meddling efforts between visitors and entities authorized to provide these services are paramount for the new agency, as well as the operation of offices, representative headquarters and affiliates both on the island nation and overseas.
Thus, the office becomes the Gran Caribe hotel group's travel agency for the operation, marketing and promotion of hotel and extra-hotel facilities owned by the chain itself or by third parties both in Cuba and abroad, plus outlining efforts to provide, boost and market lodging, gourmet and recreational services, as well as others linked to these activities.
In the opinion of the company's execs, the grand opening of their own travel agency right at the onset of the 21st century lays bare Gran Caribe's intention to purvey a more comprehensive and full-out product. In that sense, officials from Gran Caribe told Excellencies the work in this first stage will zero in on such traditional markets as Canada, Germany, Great Britain and Mexico.
Gran Caribe Travels is aimed at pushing sales of the group's accommodations, options, as well as events and incentives, with a special emphasis placed on its own products. However, other hotel chains in those locations the group does not have establishments of its own will also be included in this effort.
Among the new agency's proposals, Gran Caribe Vacations will focus on stays; Gran Caribe Tour will devote to tours; Gran Caribe Special includes scuba diving offers and packages for honeymooners, while Gran Caribe Mix will stress on the less-known and less-marketed tourist circuits.
Gran Caribe hotel group owns 45 resorts –most of them labeled as 4-star and 5-star establishments- with a grand total of 10,996 rooms, plus four extra-hotel resorts: the Tropicana cabarets in Havana and Varadero, and El Floridita and La Bodeguita del Medio restaurants. Of that tally, 52% is run by the group while the remaining 48% fits in the category of joint operations with a number of foreign chains.
Some of the group's foreign partners are Sol Meliá, Hoteles C, Iberostar, Barceló and Riu from Spain; France-based Accor, Venta Club from Italy and Jamaica's SuperClubs, currently running resorts in Havana City, the province of Havana, Varadero, Ciego de Avila's keys and Santiago de Cuba.
The spanking-new travel agency will be headed by Jorge Felix Salazar Casanova, who's also serving his stint as marketing director for the Gran Caribe hotel group.
