- Music and tourism: marriage in the air.
For years and in various forums throughout Cuba, it has been discussed about the offer of music products, how much music could contribute to the development of international tourism. It happens that if such a relationship works properly, and not as it has been up to the present, it could be beneficial for the country.
It was from the new reality that emerged after the disappearance of the former socialist camp that in Cuba the conception of the functions of music began to change. It was also at that moment that the idea of the emergence of the market with its rule of supply and demand, Dream (still unrealized) of developing a music industry was early discussed.
Nowadays the conditions have changed and to even maintain that vocation of the direction of the country that the culture must go to all corners it is necessary a strong economy. In line with the above, the incipient national music industry has taken a step forward with the celebrations of Cubadisco.
There is still a lot to be done in terms of the diversification of the record proposal carried out in the country. A review of the number of phonograms by categories submitted to the nominations of the Cubadisco Award, during its different releases, reveals the lack of gender balance when recording.
This kind of inconvenience will begin to be solved when one can speak of the emergence of a true national market for culture, with sufficient solidity so that, in it, products such as discs, books, films or plastic arts, achieve their economic realization with the money of the natural recipient for which they are conceived as artistic creation.
