Danza Contemporánea de Cuba has premiered - a theater full during the six performances at the Gran Teatro de La Habana “Alicia Alonso” - its new super production Requiem, inspired on the exalted masterpiece of Mozart´s, with the invaluable collaboration of the Teatro Lírico Nacional (a thirty voices choir and four outstanding soloists) and the GTHAA Symphony Orchestra, following the instrumental scheme of the late 18th century for which it was composed.
The staging by Miguel Iglesias, the general director of the DCC for more than three decades, and the musical direction by maestro Giovanni Duarte, the director of the orchestra and the general director of the TLNC. The choreography, inspired by the Latin texts of the Catholic liturgy, was made by George Céspedes, who offers us a contemporary vision of the last work composed by Mozart (completed by his disciple FX Sussmayr) with movements motivated in the course of the seven sections in which the musical piece is divided into, whose dancers interact with the soloists and the choir to show us the expressive power and beauty of this score, destined for religious services due to the death of an exalted personality.
