Adventure islands in a mythical land. We started a number of reportages on thematic parks in the whole world.In Spain, our tour starts at the Amusement Park of Madrid and we advance the next inauguration of Terra Mítica (Mythical Land).

Madrid´s Amusement Park underwent a major modernization since last year and is being turned into a thematic park. This step towards a thematic approach is aimed at concluding before the year 2000. The project comprises a total reform to offer an harmonic park, divided into four areas. Machine Area Inaugurated in 1997, this area is dedicated to the youngsters and counts with attractions equipped with the most advanced technologies. There are mechanical attractions newly introduced that cause strong emotions as that of the Machine which offers swinging and pendulous movements at over 18 m high. The Old Mine, a tour made on a wagon in the Earth's entrails or the Launching Machine, a tremendous free fall from 63 m high at 80 km per hour. The famous Seven Peaks (Siete Picos), the roller coaster, the distinctive symbol of the park, are linked to a new context of heavy machinery jointly with The Turbine whose vertiginous turns make to lose the orientation sense. For next June, new machines will be put into operation as the cibernetic coaster roller with vertiginous loopings.

Nature Area It was conceived for the enjoyment of the family. It is a natural site to enjoy free time in the open air. The Falls of the Fjords of 13m high can be sailed down the stream on a small boat. The Park will also be added other two areas: one for the children and the other, Tranquility Area, especially designed for adults.

In this area a new puppet theater was built and an exhibition of old toys can be seen at El palenque area. Treasures from childhood where adults can feel children again

Parques Reunidos Parques Reunidos Group is developing a new concept of relaxation in Spain closely linked to nature. This Group has several enterprises to which the Amusement Parkof Madrid is included. One of the few urban amusement parks. Among nature and zoo parks are Zoo Aquarium of Casa de Campo in Madrid comprising aquarium, dolphin aquarium and bird watching. Nature parks: Selwo at Costa del Sol (Malaga) and Valwo in Valladolid, where different ecosystem has been reproduced and hundred animals live in a partial freedom condition. Parques Reunidos has four water parks: Aquópolis at Madrid, Aquópolis at Torrevieja, Aquópolis at Costa Daurada and Guadalpark at Sevilla.

Benidorm´s Thematic Park is aimed at showing the Mediterranean as a bridge where our origins and cultures meet. Though still under construction , it will have five passionate adventures. We can travel to Africa, El Bazar de los Sueños (The Bazaar of Dreams). If the tour around the Secretos de la Pirámide (The Pyramid´s Secrets) make us feel exhausted, then we can refresh in the Flume Back, the water roller coaster. Only with a small ride we can reach El Lugar de los Dioses (Gods' Site) and after trespassing Micenas Door, you will find yourself in Greece and enjoy the pleasure given by water in the Great Splash to relive Cretans' maritime prowess. From Greece we go to Rome and then to La Frontera (The Border) where a decision should be made either to go on a tour on The Time Machine or to attend Orange Theater to see the games of Gladiadores del Futuro(Gladiators of the Future). Coming back to the peninsula, we will be in Iberica, La Orilla Cálida (The Warm Bank) living with Moslems and Christians in the Levant of the 16th and 17th centuries. Our trip does not end here , the Gran Viaje (Great Trip) is about to start along The Islands where we can accompany Telemachus, searching for his father, Ulysses, descending on boats along Los Rápidos del Sol (Sun Rapids). On this tour, the mascots from Terra Mítica (Mythical Land) will come from the other side of the Universe to the Mediterranean,U7, Hassan-Yabb, Rock-Bot and Chi-Powe-Tata will be there.
